B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital (BPKMCH) is a tertiary cancer hospital located outside the Kathmandu valley in Bharatpur, Chitwan District, Nepal. The hospital is named in honor of Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Nepal who died of throat cancer in 1982. In 1995, it began offering day services and in 1999 began treating inpatients. The hospital was funded equally by China and Nepal, with China sending doctors and other personnel to help train staff for the new facility.
The Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital is a cancer hospital located in Bhaktapur, Bagmati Province, Nepal, run by the Government of Nepal. The hospital currently has 150 beds and specializes in cancer treatment, study and research. It is one of the leading centres for cancer treatment in the country.
Kanti Children Hospital has separate Oncology wings; it presently has services of Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Pediatric Oncology. Palliative care services are provided by expert team at the cancer centre. Day to day work is coordinated and supervised by resident Medical Oncologist who works as Oncology Registrar.
The Patan Academy of Health Sciences is a public non-profit tertiary academic institution dedicated to improving Nepal’s rural health by training health workers for rural Nepal. PAHS is dedicated to sustained improvement of the health of the people in Nepal, especially those who are poor and living in rural areas, through innovation, equity, excellence and love in education, service and research. The goal of PAHS is that its graduates will not only provide severely needed medical care in rural Nepal, but will also eventually become leaders in health care policy.
