The “Improving Pediatric Oncology Outcome in Nepal” project, implemented by Ramesh Gupta Memorial Trust, was a UKAID-funded initiative aimed at enhancing pediatric cancer care in Nepal. The project, running from October 2020 to September 2023, focused on Koshi, Pokhara, and Kanti hospitals, targeting children with cancer and their families.

Total Budget: Nrs. 3,78,04,204.24

Key Achievements:

  • 522 newly diagnosed children received support.
  • 44 nurses and doctors trained in Nepal and abroad.
  • 156 additional medical professionals benefited from specialized oncology training.
  • HDU installation at Kanti Children’s Hospital improved critical care.
  • Maintenance therapy centers established in Biratnagar and Pokhara.
  • International fellowships for pediatric oncology training.

Challenges & Recommendations:

  • Need for increased financial support for pathology and treatment.
  • Improved monitoring and evaluation mechanisms required.
